A time to tear down, and a time to build. (Ecclesiastes 3.3) America has not yielded to the warning judgments (the disciplines) that God has sent thus far. So, then, we remain in a season of “tearing down”. This will continue until as a nation we return to the Lord’s way of doing things. We have traded sure foundations for feeble foundations and we have allowed these to remain and therefore the structures built on them will not stand much longer.
Now we will see a further tearing down that will roar like an immense waterfall. It will seem as if we have plunged over the edge feeling the sensation of falling to certain destruction. BUT, “the voice of the Lord is over the waters, The God of glory thunders; the Lord is over many waters” (Psalm 29.3). This will be a grand opportunity to hear the Lord speaking, even in judgment there is mercy. In the fear of the Lord there will be those who will turn their ears to find out what the Lord would desire to say; these will become teachable as they allow the Holy Spirit to correct their ways. “For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” (Isaiah 26.9) If we will do just this then the course of this nation can be corrected; thereby rescuing our land from certain demise.
These perverse structures, organizations, institutions, governments, economies, constructs, etc. currently are rooted in falsehood and not in Truth. Dark motives, the love of money, human exploitation, the indulgence of the profane and base have all flourished. We ascribe much worth to other “gods” instead of declaring a supreme worthiness for the Most High God – the only One worthy of our full attention, adoration and longing. These contemptibly inadequate works are all comparable to the Tower of Babel – built by our own whim and efforts instead of by the will, initiating and enabling of a Holy God who’s every intention towards us is good. (Psalm 127.1) “Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by crime! Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing? For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord , as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2.13,14)
It is not yet the “time to build”. But that time will surely come. The Lord is setting apart “the builders”. He is currently giving hope and vision to these who will by the Spirit see through and beyond this current climate of dismantling. They, like Abraham, see a City whose architect and builder is God and they believe fully that He will not be thwarted in His intended goal. (Hebrews 11.10). The Lord will have those He uses to restore and rebuild the ancient ruins. (Isaiah 58.12) These will be those who desire to see their Great God put on display before the nations in all of His majestic splendor. (Isaiah 60.3,4)
These craftsmen, those who will build, will soon emerge from their hidden places of preparation. They will rise to the surface to commence “building” and in so doing “terrify the nations” as the habitation of God that is constructed will be on a foundation of righteousness and truth and therefore never falter or be destroyed. (Zechariah 1.18-21) In part, this will be Psalm 149.6-9, “May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them. This is the glory of all His saints.”
God loves America; may America come to her senses and find her desire fulfilled in the Desire of All Nations, who is the Lord our God, the King Jesus Christ (Haggai 2.7). This will be a correct and proper path for us to journey, for “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14.34)
God, we ask, remember mercy ! (Habakkuk 3.2)
